AI Player Props and Prop Bet Predictions

Oddify's AI player props project the stat line a player is actually likely to produce. Points, passing yards, strikeouts, shots on goal. And compare that projection against the number the sportsbook hangs. The gap is the edge; the hit-rate confidence tells you how much to trust it. Pick a league below.

Props by league

How AI prop predictions work

A player prop is a distribution question: across all the ways tonight's game can unfold, how many points (or yards, or strikeouts) does this player end up with on average. And how wide is the spread of outcomes? Oddify's prop models build that distribution from the player's recent usage and efficiency, the matchup (pace, defensive scheme, pitcher handedness, opponent penalty-kill), projected game script and injury-driven role changes.

The model's median projection is then set against the sportsbook's posted line. A projection of 24.8 points against a line of 22.5 is an over edge; the same projection against a 26.5 line is an under edge. Every prop on the board shows the projection, the line, the edge percentage and a hit-rate confidence estimate.

The full breakdown of inputs, calibration and edge math lives on the methodology page.

Why props are where models shine

Prop markets are softer than main lines. Sportsbooks price thousands of player lines a night with a fraction of the attention they give the spread, lines move slowly on lineup news, and limits are lower. Which means inefficiencies survive longer. A disciplined model that re-projects every player the moment a starter is ruled out will consistently find lines the market has not corrected yet.

That is also why props punish casual guessing: the same softness that creates edges creates traps, like lines that look juicy because the book already knows about a minutes restriction you have not seen. A projection built from role and usage data is the antidote.

Player prop predictions vs picking overs by feel

The most common prop mistake is betting the name instead of the number: star players attract over money regardless of matchup, and books shade their lines accordingly. Player prop predictions built by a model do the opposite. They are happiest fading a famous name against a soft line and backing a role player whose usage just spiked, because the model only sees production, price and context.

The second most common mistake is ignoring correlation when combining props. Two overs from the same offense often live or die together; a model that understands game script prices that dependency, and Oddify's AI parlay generator uses it when scoring combined bets.

Frequently asked questions

What are AI player props?

AI player props are player stat-line predictions produced by a model: a projected number for points, yards, strikeouts or another stat, compared against the sportsbook's posted line. When the projection and the line disagree by enough, the prop shows a positive edge.

How accurate are AI prop bets?

Prop outcomes are high-variance. A single game can swing on foul trouble or a blowout. The model's job is calibration over volume: across hundreds of props, lines flagged with a positive edge should hit more often than their price implies. Confidence ratings tell you which projections rest on stable roles and which are volatile.

Which prop markets does Oddify project?

NBA points, rebounds, assists and PRA; NFL passing, rushing and receiving lines; MLB strikeouts, hits, total bases and RBIs; NHL shots on goal, points and saves. Coverage per league expands during the season.

Do the projections work for pick'em platforms?

Yes. A projection is platform-neutral: compare it against whatever line PrizePicks, Underdog or a sportsbook posts. Oddify is not affiliated with any of those platforms and does not accept wagers.

Are AI props better than expert prop picks?

Models and experts fail differently. Experts are strong on news and context but drift with narratives; models are relentless about usage, matchup and price but need clean data. Oddify's position: for thousands of props a night, systematic projection wins on coverage and discipline. And every number is shown so you can disagree.
